COVAXIN – India’s first Covid-19 vaccine approved by DCGI.

India’s first indigenous Covid-19 vaccine has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) on human trials. Development of the vaccine named ‘Covaxin’ has been developed by Bharat Biotech in association with Indian Council of Medical Research ( ICMR ) and National Institute of Virology (NIV).

The company has also said that trial work will be started in the first week of July. Bharat Biotech has previous experience in making vaccines. Earlier, the company has also made vaccines for polio, rabies, rotavirus, Japanese encephalitis, chikungunya and Zika virus.

India is the pharma company of Biotech Hyderabad, which has claimed to make covid’s vaccine. The company says that it has also got the green signal from DCGI for the Phase-1 and Phase-2 human trials of ‘Covaxine’. The company has also said that trial work will be started in the first week of July. Bharat Biotech has previous experience in making vaccines. Earlier, the company has also made vaccines for polio, rabies, rotavirus, Japanese encephalitis, chikungunya and Zika virus.
