How to Make Hand Sanitizer at Home : More than half of India’s 28 states and 8 union territories are currently effected to covid-19 ( corona virus ) and as of March 16, 2020, more than cases of covid-19 have been confirmed across the country.

The World Health Organization WHO and the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have given some important suggestions to the people to avoid this new form of corona virus which includes these things-

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water and every time you wash your hands,

Rub Hand for at least 20 seconds. If it is not possible to wash hands with soapy water ,

use alcohol based hand sanitizer. Do not touch your face repeatedly with dirty hands, especially the eyes, nose and mouth.

Avoid visiting crowded places. Stay as far away from sick people as possible.

If you see any flu- like symptoms in yourself, use a mask . If you suspect that you may be infected with a corona virus infection, isolate yourself (self-quarantine). Stay separate from everyone for a few days, do not come in contact with people. The best way to prevent the spread of covid-19 corona virus is to wash hands thoroughly. This is because this virus named SARS -CoV-2 has a thin layer on the outside which is made up of lipids ie fat and protein and when you clean hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds So this virus is easily eradicated. (Keep in mind – you have to clean the middle of the fingers and also around the nails thoroughly ) If you are somewhere outside or in a place where there is no soap-water, you will need a hand sanitizer to clean your hands and kill germs. To eliminate this new corona virus, it is very important to have a sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol instead of a normal sanitizer.

The Ministry of Health has passed the Essential Commodities Order 2020 on 13 March, under which it has been said that the quality of the hand sanitizer sold in the market should be improved. In such a situation, if you are not getting hand sanitizer in the market or you do not trust the quality of sanitizer available in the market then it is better that you make your sanitizer at home. Ingredients for making hand sanitizer at home

To make a hand sanitizer, you mainly need 3 ingredients –

1. Isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol- You must have seen rubbing alcohol in a doctor’s clinic. Rubbing alcohol is the liquid that the doctor and nurse rub on your skin before giving you an injection. This blue colored spirit is usually found at drug stores. Keep in mind that the rubbing alcohol you buy should contain 99 percent alcohol by volume. This is the main ingredient needed to kill germs. To make a sanitizer you need three quarters of a cup of rubbing alcohol.

2.Aloe vera gel– This gel acts as a humidifier in the sanitizer, which means that the gel prevents the alcohol from drying out or blowing away from your skin. To make a sanitizer you will need a quarter cup of aloe vera gel. If you’d like fresh plants placed Vera in gel can take to use it or to meet market gel aloe vera can be used.

3.Essential oil or lemon juice– You can use any aromatic oil like tea tree oil or lavender oil which will help in reducing the smell of alcohol. To make a sanitizer, you will need 7 to 10 drops of essential oil. If you want, you can also use a few drops of lemon juice in place of fragrant oil.

How to make hand sanitizer at home

While making a hand sanitizer at home, keep in mind that the ratio of alcohol and aloe vera gel should be 2: 1. This means that two-thirds of the sanitizer should be alcohol and 1-third of aloe vera gel. It is important to do this so that your sanitizer contains at least 66 percent alcohol and it is very important to kill dangerous germs like corona virus

Method to make hand sanitizer at home

Add 2 parts alcohol and 1 part aloe vera gel to a glass bowl. Now add 7 to 10 drops of essential oil of your choice or lemon juice . Now with the help of a wisk or a spatula, mix these three things well until the alcohol and gel are mixed together. Now fill the prepared mixture in a small clean bottle, which you can easily take with you anywhere. Whenever you touch a place that a large number of people touch, such as door latch, bus handle, switch or lift button, then do not forget to clean the hands using a hand sanitizer.
